Spencer Huffman’s evening length play, The Shape of the Bones, tells a gripping and urgent story about a charismatic leader, Pastor Riga, of an insular religious community and the ways her doctrines impact her constituents. The pastor begins preaching that certain members of her congregation can achieve ecstatic transcendence as mortal angels. Ben, a twelve-year-old boy, believes he is one of the chosen few. His mother Meredith, believing her son has been swept up in a religious fervor, resorts to desperate measures to save her son.
